problem on rays of light

Topic :- Rays of Light

In optics, a ray is an idealized narrow beam of light. Rays are used to model the propagation of light through an optical system, by dividing the real field of light up into discrete rays that can be computationally propagated through the system by the techniques of rays of light.

Here is a problem on rays ,which explain more...

Question:-
A ray of light incident upon a plane mirror makes an angle of 36 degrees with the mirror. What is the angle between the incident ray and the reflected ray?

ANSWER: 108 degrees

Here the of light incident upon a plane mirror makes an angle=36 degrees with the mirror

So normal angle=90 degrees

So angle between the incident ray and the normal ray= 54 degrees

And the angle between the normal ray and the reflected = 54 degrees

So here,

The angle between the incident ray and the reflected ray=54+54=108 degrees
